Details
Following a wide-scale engagement process that began right here at CAHR in 2019, CIHR is pleased to announce the launch of its new HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) Research Initiative Strategic Plan 2022–2027. This plan reinforces CIHR’s continued commitment to reducing the health impacts of HIV/AIDS and STBBI by supporting excellent research across the cascade of care, and will help guide us forward as we work together towards achieving more equitable health outcomes for all.
Opening remarks will be provided by Dr. Michael Strong, President of CIHR, followed by the unveiling of the new vision, mission, values and strategic goals by Dr. Charu Kaushic, Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity. The remainder of the program will feature a panel discussion where members of our research community will share their expertise on a theme that came through loud and clear over the course of our engagement sessions and is an integral part of the new Strategic Plan – promoting health equity across the cascade of care.
Join us to learn about the CIHR HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Initiative’s new strategic priorities that will inform our future funding opportunities and activities over the next 5 years.
Session objectives:
• Gain an understanding of the strategic directions and related priorities of the new CIHR HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Initiative Strategic Plan 2022-2027
• Become familiar with strategies and best practices for conducting
research to achieve more equitable health outcomes across the cascade of care, especially for key populations most affected by HIV/AIDS and STBBI
• Discuss how to best implement a health equity lens throughout the research process and across different pillars
