Future discoveries and advancements in HIV research hinge on our ability to train the next generation of health researchers in Canada. In keeping with this reality, the strategic plans of the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative and the Canadian Association for HIV Research commit to “train and support a strong and diverse community of researchers” and “promote education and the development of new researchers”. This panel session includes a diverse group of trainees from various research disciplines. The goals of the event is to: • identify the changing needs of trainees; • examine the gaps and opportunities that exist; • develop a reference document on facilitating their advocacy, development, and research needs. The organizers of the session thank CIHR and CAHR for sponsoring this event. Session Objectives: - Identify training and development needs for trainees - Seek input from attendees about the training/funding gaps that exist in Canada

Abstract

Future discoveries and advancements in HIV research hinge on our ability to train the next generation of health researchers in Canada.
